digital noise

I recently posted a question about my first attempts at night photgraphy and some mentioned digital noise, I have a nikon coolpix L5. I have not seen this in my camera manual. Do I do the scene mode and hope for the best or is there a way to prevent digital noise.

Digital noise can show up in dark areas - and with night photography there's a lot of that... Check the manual and see if there is a noise reduction mode. It should work pretty well.
