    Compressing Pictures

Ive been trying to post pictures to the Forum and all of my pictures are too large. I know I am taking them in the largest format possible so I will be able to enlarge them and have them look good. How can I compress them to put them onto the forum? Sorry simple question that I couldn't find previously posted.

    Re: Compressing Pictures

I do mine in photoshop elements 6. image/re-size/image re-size/ then go to 800x on longest side. Before saving I put the quality at 8 or 9.
I would think all editing programs have a resizing tool.

Didn't anything come with the camera? Are you using a viewer in windows (or Apple)? Someone will come along here with one of the downloadable free ones - I just am not familiar with any. - TF

    Re: Compressing Pictures

If you have Microsoft Office there should be a photo editor- Microsoft Office Picture Manager. You can resize and do some very basic editing with that. If not, use the software that came with the camera. If none, you can download the Windows "Photo Resizer" power toy. You can also download "Gimp" for a free photo editor.

Do not over look GIMP, it was developed as a Linux program, it's a PhotoShop clone with all the bells and whistles and a steep leaning curve. The good news it's free and there is a windows distro of it. Link: http://www.gimp.org/windows/
