CF image "reverse" from storage to CF card

I have some images stored on my external hard drive that I'd like to put on one of my CD cards to get some prints made. I don't do my own prints.

Can I do this easily? How? Any precautions I should take? Thanks!

Just copy the images back onto your CF card and you shouldn't have an issue Liz.

Sure you can - a CF card is just a storage device just like a miniature solid state version of the hard drive. I think you'll need to have a card reader to do it.

Click on Start > My Computer then see what the CF card is labeled as (mine usually shows up as "Removeable Disk (E)". Then just copy the image(s) to that location. Make sure that you Copy and don't Move...

Thanks! The reason I asked is because I vaguely recall a post where someone did that about a year ago and lost the images. It may have just been a glitch.

    Great - thanks!

More like user error I think Liz. If you just copy them over you shouldn't have a problem, if you moved them then you might, I have done that and moved them to the wrong place and had to find them.

Your points are very well taken, Peter. And I'll follow your advice. Thanks so much!

If you're using windows, the mouse is your enemy !
WIth drag and dropp is's easy to forget to hold down the control key to copy.
The keyboard is your friend !
By al means use windows exploder to highlight thte files, then use Control-C to copy the files. Use exploder again to pick the target disk and Control-V to paste them.
