    Unhappy CF Error

I have a Canon Digital Rebel XT and have enjoyed it a great deal. Just yesterday however I received the message CF error when trying to download images to hard drive?

I tried another card, and it works okay. I also checked it on another printer by inserting the card itself instead of using USB, and the images are still there. What causes this?

Do I have to format the card? Is reformating something I have to face regularly?

    Thanks

Re-formatting the card after every time you use it is a good idea. Obviously, this means everytime after you download the images. Since it's USB, did you click on the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon at the lower right of the screen (Windows)? If the card was pulled out while files were being accessed, it may have a problem.

Try formatting in the camera and see if that helps.

    Re: CF Error

Just a quick addition to what AV had to say...everything I've read and been told is: "Always reformat in your camera...NEVER from your computer!"...whether that is true or not...I don't know, but since I've started practicing this...I've had no probs with my card...
