Angry Digital camera frustration. Please help!

    Casio QV-R40
    SanDisk 256 mb card

I have been having a problem with my camera's interface after placing sandisk card back into camera after downloading pictures onto a computer.
I'd been transferring my pics onto my computer (Windows 98) via usb cable (always had sd card inserted in camera, never took out until I got new computer). I recently purchased a new computer which allows me to insert my sd card into my computer instead of using the usb cable. The first time I inserted the card into the computer and uploaded my pics everything was fine. After I was done I inserted the sd card back into my camera. I turned on the camera and instead of getting my usual screen and settings I got a frazzled screen. Now I can take pictures but I cannot change any of my features or anything on my camera. I can't get to the menu interface and when I turn on the camera I always get a fuzzy screen. My pics are fine when I upload them to the computer but I am frustrated by not being able to access any of my camera features. Can anyone please help?!!

All I can really suggest is that you get intouch with customer service. Does the software taht came with the camera have a feture that alwos you to reset the camera? Have you tired taking the batts out for awhile?

    ...Ditto what Almo said.

One thing about memory cards; only remove them from a card reader or camera when the light is off. If you happened to remove it when the card was still being accessed by the computer or camera (light on), the card could fail.

I have tried that and also reformatted the sandisk and it does not work. I have tried reformatting my camera from my computer but it won't allow that action to happen. I am trying to avoid paying Casio any money but it does not look like that is going to happen. The sandisk card is fine though it is my camrea that is screwed up.

As the others have said, sounds like the camera is faulty and might just be a coincidence that this has happened, timing wise.

I tried using a digital once... for some reason i can not use the software without my computer (or whatever computer im using at the time) going phsyco. I find that digital takes pictures but not to the point that film does, if it were me id stick to the old fashoned ones, then you always have a hard copy. but thats just me... good luck!

    A Couple More Ideas

    Process of elimination...

Try another memory card and see if that works. If it does, then you know your original SD card is the problem. Right now there's no way to tell if it's the camera or the card.

Try reformatting your memory card on the computer (if you haven't already). It's possible the memory card interface in your camera is the problem. Reformatting it in the camera should work. But if it's too screwed up for the camera to even recognize correctly, reformatting on the computer might repair it sufficiently to be formatter in the camera.

If you haven't copied the files to your computer, do it now. Don't risk losing them.

What kind of card reader are you using? I've had card readers go bad. A Microtech CompactFlash reader quit working and the built-in SD card reader in my laptop consistently corrupts memory cards.
