camera problems

Hi, I'm having a problem with my sony f-717. lately I've been getting a sharp horizontal line on some of my images that starts as a line of sharp color and dissipates to normal. It starts different places on on different images. The camera is about 3 yrs old and has never had any other problems. It just started suddenly, any help?.

It sounds like either your sensor or your processor is going bad. It may be having trouble processing the light information which would translate into disolored lines. If this is the case, the problem will only get progessively worse... and unfortunately, sony charges flat rates on their repairs which more often than not, are more expensive than purchasing a new camera.

Thanks, I kinda thought that might be the problem. the repair cost they quote on the web is around $250, so maybe I can talk my better half into letting me get an alpha

Sony used defective sensors in some DSC-F717s, and will repair them free. Details are on Sony's support page for the camera.
