    Camera damage?

I dabble in infra red photography using a Panasonic DMC - FZ50 and a Hoya R72 filter. Yesterday I read in an internet article that IR photography can seriously damage the electronics of a camera. Can someone please advise me on this.

    Re: Camera damage?

Sorry to have taken so long to reply but I spent last night looking for the item as I cannot remember the address of the site. However the relevant passage was explaining about IR photography and ended up with the warning that by using an IR filter on your camera then you run the risk of seriously damaging your cameras electronic system. I do not have the technical knowledge to agree/disagree with the statement so that is why I asked here

    I think that's rubbish.
Only if you use it stupidly (like point it at the sun for extended periods) would you damage it.
I want to see the site and read their explanation, or if it's unsubstantiated.
