    Re: camera bags ???

I recently got a similar pack, the lowepro computrekker plus aw. It's a great pack provided you don't load it to the hilt - the pack will handle it but your back won't! With that in mind, I think if I had to do it over again, I'd go with something more along the lines of the Pelican or Kata rolling pack. There's one listed on the same site you linked to : http://www.camerabagpro.com/product/PCS247 that's at the same price point. It really depends on how much you plan to drag along and what terrain you plan on dragging it over (the rolling packs don't work especially well on the trails).

    Re: camera bags ???

I have a Lowepro Vertex 300 AW. It will carry your laptop, plus A LOT of photo gear. I can get my 5D, 30D, 100-400, 80-200 f/2.8L, 24-105, 17-40, 50, 1.4x Metz 54mz-3, either of my tripods, various batteries, filters, etc. etc. and I still have a lot of room for at least 2 more lenses. It too gets quite heavy. I use it mostly to get my gear from my car to a location and from the location to my car. If I have a long hike, I just take my Tamrac Velocity with one lens.

    Not the answer you want

I've just been through the computer-photo-bag thing. I have decided on a different approach:

    1. I never need to carry around all my photo gear AND the computer at the same time. I can have two bags
    2. I very rarely need my professional gear when I'm out on a trip. I can take my (cheap) consumer gear and let it go in the hold or in the trunk of the car(*)

The D60 and three lenses goes in the LowePro Mini Trekker for serious shooting. The computer goes in a little Targus backpack with a point-and-shoot. At night I leave the computer in the hotel and put the D60 in the Targus with just one lens.

If I absolutely have to take my portable with my pro gear then it just about fits in my Billingham 445 shoulderbag (but my portable is only 13.3 inches).

(*) I know you just got all your gear stolen when your car was towed away. I never leave anything valuable in the trunk of the car. I have some regrets when I go on holiday with consumer gear but finally it gives me more freedom

Not buying any more gear this year. I hope
