Thanks for the link to the story, Aaron. That's pretty interesting. I can see how it might be a good investment for Kodak to build, or at least participate in a 35mm SLR. More film cameras means more potential film sales for them.

Talk about a rollercoaster ride in film world lately. First we had the great news coming out of PMA, including the Fuji MF folder. Then Fuji closes several processing places. Now we're going back up with this news. I feel much more confident about it though if I could find an official press release about it on either Kodak or Vivitar's site. The news of this is all over the web elsewhere though.

    Nice info there, John.
One minor correction is needed, near the end you reference the Nikon F6 and Canon Elan 7N as being introduced in fall 2007...I believe it was 2004?

Nice article John  Harrison is right on the release dates though. I double checked, both were released in 2004.

Ohhhh - thanks! I did know it was 2004 because I looked it all up. Need more eyes for fact-checking and editing!

Kodak has started advertising their film again, I saw an ad by them today. Maybe they are waking up to the fact that film isn't dead after all?

Let's just hope all manufacturers wake up to that fact

Re: Plans for Kodak-branded 35mm film-based SLR camera unveiled!

There are quite a few manufacturers out there. I listed stores on another forum which carry them. If you're interested tell me and I can post stores and manu. here. Some of the film is old names being made through a new company but retaining the name. Agfa, Adox. I was surprised to find that there are companies in Czechoslovakia, et al who have been in business for many years and highly thought of internationally.

There's definitely plenty out there. One look through the B&W film and paper sections on Freestyle's website is evidence of that. Let's just hope they keep plugging away. I ordered several different packs of paper from a couple smaller companies, Slavich and Fotokemika. Should be here tomorrow and from all the reviews and feedback, they are awesome papers right on par with Ilford Gallerie and Oriental FB papers but, half the price.
