Praktica Super TL with Opticam 35mm f/2.8 M42 lens. Haven't tried it out yet, soon maybe. Garage Sale purchase.

I really want a TLR in my collection.

Congrats on the new toy The Prakticas have quite the cult following. Are they as much of a tank as they look? Put any film in it yet?

Now you're talking, come to the dark side I haven't listed it here as I didn't think there would be any interest for it but, I have my Rolleicord V for sale if you're interested.

They are a tank. A generation of cameras that can be used to drive nails. A small exaggeration.

Do have it cleaned, lubed, and adjusted before much use. The Prakticas shutter channel and film path grabbed dirt if I remember correctly. Seems as if the film path had paint on it in a few places to be non-reflective and it got 'sticky'. Not unusual.

If they, like all of these old classics, are kept clean and condtiioned they will take pics for ever. Just the springs and regulators for the shutter timing get a bit 'off' every decade or two.

Great cheap lens selection for that camera as well! Look for Super-Takumar series lens units for some of the best glass ever. Or if you can find a Leitz/Leica/Schneider labeled M42 mount; cannot be beat. Of course watch for mold and pitting.

Want to see photos you make with this old workhorse!

Good luck and congratulations on the addition.

Cool camera! I hope it's a user and not destined for a life on the shelf. That M42 mount is a good one to own. I don't know much about the original lenses, but there are tons of old Pentax and Russian lenses that will fit it. You can get some affordable Zeiss glass for it too. Lots of good cheap options.
