Need to scan rolls of microfilm ... scanner suggestions?

I have several rolls of old newspapers on 35mm positive microfilm that I want to scan. I don't need to scan the entire rolls, just selected photos and articles. I've tried my flatbed Epson Perfection V500 Photo scanner, but there is no good way to scan roll film with it. It works fine if I cut a frame from the microfilm, scan it & then splice the microfilm back together. I tried that once as a test, but I don't want to ruin the roll of microfilm that way. Any suggestions for a scanner that does microfilm rolls? Thanks.

    Hi wildcat, welcome to PR

That's going to be a tough one. The only scanners I am aware of that have the option for full rolls would be the Nikon Coolscans or the Minolta Dimages. Actually, I should say these scanners will do it if you purchase special adapters. Either way you are looking at a good chunk of change.

Thanks for the quick reply ... I was afraid of that. You would think there was a way to scan roll film / microfilm on a flatbed. The technology is there, just not a way to mount the film in the carrier to keep it flat. If anyone has accomplished this feat, let me know. Thanks.
