    My first black and Whites.

I must say, it is a little difficult to get use to the film grain, but it also seems to add life to the images. I am really loving these film cameras. Today I recived my Pentax Super ME, so, I need to get out and break that one in....

I always have a hard time with B&W photography, yet you seem to have an eye for it already. Well done! What film were you using?

    Danic,
    Thanks for the kind words.
I don't remember what film I used. I only know that it was some Professional Kodak ISO 400 film..I will be picking up another roll today, so I will let you know.

Looks like you're off to a good start Javier Did you add any contrast to these or were you using filters at all? They have good contrast for C-41 B&W.

Re: My first black and Whites.

Xia, No I simply scanned the film and this is what came out. From what I have been reading, different films offer different finishes. Perhaps this 11 dollar film was worth it after all. It did say on the package, ''high'' contrast.. I went back to cvs to get another roll, but they where out. I will be going to a pro shop at lunch to get a pack of film...

For fun, I tried converting digital images to black and white and they look nasty...There is simply something unique and special about film.

Oh, one more thing. I did allot of cropping in this images, mostly to remove what looks like major lens vignetting...Or maybe it was simply the film. When I get home I will post an un-cropped one so that perhaps you can tell me what it is.

That film is not worth $11 a roll. Not saying the film is bad, just way over priced. Do yourself a favor and head over to Freestyle Photo, right on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, and they have the BW400CN 36exp for $4.90 a roll. You could even order it and still save you a bunch of money over what you are paying.

As for the vignetting, what lens were you using?

Those look great. If you like it and get real serious try some Ilford 125 or 100. It is less griany. Department store film isn't really the best choice.

Greg, I just got home from Samy's camera, the local pro shop...I asked for black and white film and left feeling stupid....Those people where so rude...I tried to ask questions about the different films and what they do, and they told me to google it....''Sigh'', This after I have spent a small fortune with them these past couple of years ..I mean, I know that I look raggedy, Long hair, have not shaved for 3 days, dirty shirt as I got out of work and was on the dyno all day long, But by golly, If I have not spent some 15K with them these past couple of years and .Anyway, I stopped of at Ritz and they where very nice and helpful. I bought a 5 pack of C-41 iso400 Kodak professional 36 exp each for 25Bucks...Sorry for the rant...

There is nothing wrong with department store film. I still shoot it from time to time. You can get Trix at CVS. It's a great film. I just mean there is better out there. When are you going to try your hand at developing? I scanned my first negatives this past week end and am real happy with the results. I finally see true B&W tones like Aaron is getting.
