    My brand new ''used'' baby

    Hi Folks...
Can I get some recommendations on film? I am thinking about black and white, but I have no clue...

Classic camera. Try Kodak BW400CN. It's C-41 and can be developed anywhere. If it's not C-41 it will most likely have to be sent off or developed yourself. Also when you get it developed tell the lab CD only and save you some cash by not getting prints. Then you can do your PS work first. I pay less than 5 dollars at Wal-Mart.

    Greg
You brought up a good point and one I did not even know was an option. I did not realize that there was even a cd option. I was thinking, I was going to have to scan the ones I wanted....

Very nice Javier! Looking forward to seeing some shots

As for B&W recommendations, are you going to develop your own film or do you have a place near you to get traditional B&W film developed? If not, you'll want to go with a C-41 process film such as the one Greg mentioned or Ilford XP-2. Both are 400 speed films. If you will be using traditional B&W process films, it comes down to what flavor you prefer and your shooting conditions. Plan on shooting lower light? There's Fujifilm Neopan 1600, Ilford Delta 3200, or Kodak TMAX 3200. If you want a slower or medium speed fine grain check out TMAX or Delta 100 or 400, Neopan 400, or Acros 100. If you like the more "traditional" B&W films there's always the classics, Plus-X or Tri-X and Ilford FP4+ and HP5+. These are just a few of the more common films available.

Javier; welcome to the film club.
I recommend that you get a changing bag and tank to develop 35mm film. You can load it in the dark of the bag without a darkroom. All processing can be done in daylight after that. That will give you a larger field of film from which to choose.

There are several companies selling B&W film from all over the world, here are some of them:

    Fotospeed: http://www.fotospeed.com/

    Freestyle Photographic Supplies: http://www.freestylephoto.biz/sc_main.php?cat_id=0

    Frugal Photographer: http://www.frugalphotographer.com/

Retro Photographic Ltd - Black & White Specialist Photographic Products: http://www.retrophotographic.com/

    Maco Photo Products: http://www.mahn.net/Frameset.htm

    UltraFine On Line: http://tinyurl.com/266hks

I could add some more but that would be showing off? If you want more, ask me.

There are also a bunch of labs who will process C41, traditional, and E6 films.

    Nope, film is not dead!!
