    Choosing analog manual camera

Which is better to get, i got two options

Nikon FM-2 (body only) for 62 euro, or

Yashica FX-3 with 3 lens for 80 euro:
    28-80mm
    50mm
    75-200mm

I know that the Nikon fm-2 is a cult camera and better, but yashica comes with 3 lenses.
Is the Nikon fm-2 so much better than Yashica fx-3, or the imaging is still ok on yashica.

    thank you.

I don't think that there is a big difference between the FM-2 and the FX-3 in terms of image quality, construction. I don't think the FM-2 is a cult camera, either.

However the Yashica is a dead end. They are no longer making SLR's, nobody else uses the Yashica-Contax lens mount.

Buy the Nikon and you are into a system which is still current and more or less compatible with today's cameras.

Today the Yashica is cheaper but in 10 years time you'll be wishing you bought the Nikon.

Yeah go with the Nikon body, the lenses are plentiful out there used. Remember, you can even you AF Nikon lenses as long as they're the "D" type. Also lots of AI, AI-S, and Series E lenses to go around.

I owned a Yashica FX3. I would go for the Nikon. The Yashica has a fairly good mirror slap and shooting zooms could be a problem. Mine would almost hop off of the tripod. Not to mention a better choice of lenses with the Nikon.

    Re: Choosing analog manual camera

    Thank you for you advice.
I'm about to by the Nikon FM2, but first i want to find some Nikkor manual lens about 50mm 1.4 or 1.8 and also some wideangle below 28mm. I'm from Macedonia and the price here and in the other countries will be different. So, does anyone knows what the close price for this lens (what price should i probably expect here, higher ofcourse)?

A new 50 f/1.8 is about $100 U.S. with the f/1.4 being about $450. Deals of course are to be had but I would have no idea what the prices are in Macedonia.

I'm about buying some second hand lens, the manual nikkor lens. Maybe this will be pretty hard to find.

If they are too hard to find, remember that auto-focus lenses do not have to be used as auto-focus lenses. Just switch them to manual on the lens and/or the camera.

True, but on Nikon's especally the older ones like the FM to, the only auto focus Nikon lenses that will work are the D type lenses which still have the aperture control ring. The newer G type lenses are missing this ring.

The AF Nikkor 24mm 1:2.8D will work perfectly (I use it on my F3 when I want something wider than my Series E 28mm) and gives a nice wide angle without the distortion of say a fisheye lens.

I think you need to stick to non-analog as such a thing does not exist. : )

The spelling analog is a US variant of analogue in all its senses, and is also the generally preferred spelling in the computer industry
    analogue.

    —adj.
of or pertaining to a mechanism that represents data by measurement of a continuous physical variable, as voltage or pressure

My film cameras are Ricoh XR-2s, Sigma Sa-1, Sigma Sa-5, Pentax P3n, Kodak Motormatic 35RF, Voigtlander Vito II, Kodak Retina, and misc. other.
