What flash do you use on your OM?

Getting sick of deciding between underexposed or blurry :P

Hi Theo, sadly I haven't used a flash since I had my D50. When I got the OM kit from my uncle, it came with a Dejur Electra 260 which he always had pretty good results with. I only shoot b&w and if I'm going to be in a low light situation, I'll just push some Tri-X or HP5 to 1600 or 3200. I prefer to stick with using available light. I did just pick up a Rolleiflash and some flashbulbs to play around with a bit but, haven't tried it out as of yet as I need to get some batteries for it. The guys over in the Oly forum might be able to help you out a little more than I can, sorry.

Try the Olympus T32. At the time the OM was out it was the flagship flash. I just saw one on e-bay for $29.00.......I can't vouch for the seller, good luck

    2 more questions..

Light leaks in the bellows of a Kodak 620 folder. Also, shutter doesn't cock. Fairly special camera, found it with a picture of my grandmother holding the case in 1935. Still have the case.

How hard is it to make a pinhole lens for an SLR? I was thinking of finding a dead OM lens and pulling all the glass out and making a pinhole for it.

The holes in the bellows can be fixed cheaply with a little Gaffer tape or if it's really important, and you don't mind spending the money, you could have a new set of bellows made for it. As for the shutter, only fix for that is to send it in for repair. Probably just needs a good CLA. I would keep an eye out on Ebay and try to find one in good condition you could use for parts.

Pinholes for SLR's are easy. You can buy them pre-made. Freestyle has ones for Oly for $29.99. Or you could also buy a body cap and make your own.

I had an old folder but sent it to Aaron, he now has it. It seems like you had to advance the film before you could set the shutter? Or something? I really can't remember what it was but I finally figured it out. Any ideas Aaron?

Greg, it had cocking lever on the lens itself. It's separate from the film advance. That reminds me, I still haven't taken it shooting yet :blush2: The lens had a bit of fungus but, could still make for some interesting shots. Maybe I'll throw it in the pack when I go out snowshoeing tomorrow
