Re: Which is the best scanner to scan medium fomat film?
I use an Epson V500, the results, once you've experimented and gotten the settings down is very good, and the software that is bundled with it is easy to use and still very flexible.
However, I won this scanner in a draw.
If I were to recommend one...I would go with the Epson V700.
Here's a sample Medium format scan from the V500, using a Pentax 645, SMC Pentax A 645 35mm 1:3.5 lens, on Kodak Ektar 100 film.

Flatbed scanners haven't gotten very good. But if we're really talking about the *best* scans, then we should be talking about dedicated film scanners or even drum scanners. I think Nikon is the only company still making a dedicated medium format film scanner - the Coolscan 9000. Hi wedding photographer, i don't know your real name, using as it is showing. You will got lot of answer's/Suggestions from other's, but i'm gonna share my personal experience with you. I scan every MF neg using 48 bit colour, even bw.
My target output is 2400/3200 dpi at the original neg size which gives around 5000 - 7000 pixel images, longest side. You will need to check what the optimum output is from your scanner, I would imagine it could cope with 2400/3200 dpi easily.
I dont adjust the colours in Lightroom, I shoot film and specific emulsions because of their colour pallet.
