Anyone tried Arista EDU Ultra B&W film?

So I was "window shopping" at Freestyle Photo and saw Arista EDU Ultra 100 film in 120 for only $1.89 per roll! Has anybody tried this? I couldn't find too much on a quick Google search.

No, but interested to hear as well.

I did place an order last weekend for a bunch of stuff from Freestyle - they shipped it complete on Monday and it should be here today (from CA). I haven't received the catalog I requested yet but didn't expect to get that right away, and there may be one in the box. So far so good with them!

I'm not familiar with this film, but I think I've heard that Arista is a repackaged version of another film. I'm not sure how that works, but I know that there are a few films out there that can be bought under multiple names.

I just checked on RFF and found this thread on the topic:

Sound good a_v. Think I'll end up placing my next order there as they have a few films I want to try.

Thanks for the link photophorous I'll have to dig deeper on that stuff when I get home from work tonight.

    Xia,

I have used the Arista.edu for some time now. I like it. Here's a sample:

    Aaron,

Thank you for the kind words regarding my photos.

I used Efke R25 when I lived in England, and have since run out. It was cheap to buy, thankfully, as it does have its issues. You'll find defects in the silver halide coating, which can be fixed in Photoshop, also there is a propensity to curl, and some people object to the color cast the negative takes upon development. Perhaps the quality has improved since I bought my batch. My all time favourite film is Ilford FP4+.

    Best regards,

    Ray Wilson

Re: Anyone tried Arista EDU Ultra B&W film?

I read a few places about QC problems with their emulsions Bummer. I think I'm settling in nicely with Fuji films. Been very happy with the results I'm getting so far with Acros 100 and Neopan 400. I think I have the Neopan pegged now but, still need to fine tune my developing with the Acros. Haven't tried FP4+ yet but, I did like the results I got with HP5+. The FP4+ is their Plus-X "equivalent" correct? Might have to pick up a couple rolls to try out sometime.

    Happy Shooting
