    WW2 Camera Tricks with a XL1 or PD-150

Im new to the forums and was not sure if this was the proper forum to post this thread.

I am 16 and making my 3rd movie and was thinking of getting an XL1.

At the same time I want to make this movie look like you are right there and in the action. Do you guys know what settings to put the camera at and what lenses to use, ect.

I and my friends are getting people from our local collage to act in it as well. We are looking for the same look that was used in Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers. I dont want to spend alot though. Thx

    Siege,

I moved your thread, we have a dedicated video forum.

To help with your question, there is software that will make digitized footage appear aged. Do a google search for "aged film effect" or similar and you should be on the right track. The tool I personally used for a while was Cinelook, not sure if it's still being made or not, but once again, google will help.

For Saving Private Ryan the crews actually had the lens coatings removed from the lenses to get the appearance closer to what WW2 era cameras would have recorded. I doubt you'd want to do that to the XL1 though... ;)

    Good luck.

How to tell the most experienced shooter in a group? They have the least amount of toys on them.
