Question Record in B/W or record then manilpulate to B/W

I was wondering what is best to do, record in my video camera black and white on the get go,
or record in color then edit it to become black in white?

Which would have the best effects?

    Which is the smarter way?

    Thank you!

    Welcome to PR

I'm going to assume you're shooting digital video? I always found it best, when I was shooting digital, to shoot in color and convert to B&W. Gives better control. Now I'm not sure what your editing programs are like and how much control they will give you though. I'm going to move this thread over to the video forum as I think they could help you better over there.

Personally I would be shooting in colour. you never know when you might need that shot again in colour or how you might need to tweak the contrast and birghtness of the black and white footage, so having all of your options open is better. Sure you might need some extra time rendering your changes, but if your settings aren't correct then you have room to move. If you shoot in black and white you restrict your options.
