    Photos from DV footage

    Hi,

Does anyone know a good Windows software to take Still snapshots from my DV footage? I dropped my still camera in the water , and I lost all the pictures from the last mountain trip.

I've been told you can get decent quality stills from a DV avi file, but my camera sofware only gives me 640/480 pixels, with horizontal stripes when the objects are moving (no good for printing ).

    Please help with advice!

    Rick

NTSC or never the same color as some like to say, is only ever going to give you 720 x480 resolution at best. Do you have any software available that will allow you to capture or trim just one frame and export it as a JPG? That might help a little,

I have recently come across a free Windows tool that claims to be doing just what you describe: extract single hi-res frames from DV video http://www.qelabs.com/ . A quick test with a short movie I shot indoors gave surprisingly good results; I do not know however how this will work with outdoor footage. Give it a try, and good luck!
