Hours Meter

I own a Sony Pd-170 and I am trying to understand how to interpret the hrs meter information. This is what Sony has in the user's manual: The cumulative total of hours of operation is displayed in 10-operation increments. My camera is displaying Operation 6 x10H. So does that mean 60 hours or something else?

Thats it. You track the hours so you can know when to have it serviced.

Can you tell me when it is recommended to get a sony camcorder PDX10P/PD170P serviced?
How many hours before its due for a service?
And also where best to get the service done?

Well, I have never seen a service schedule on the PD170's. I think it calls for service after each complete submersion or after any nuclear explosion within four feet. It is one of the most bullet proof camcorders I have ever seen. I have a five year old PD150 that I have dropped onto concrete, trekked through the mud, chased a tiger, worked in the rain and so on. It still performs like new except for some cosmetic issues (concrete is heck on camcorders). I start watching for degradation on any video gear after 1000 drum hours. I don't know anyone who has replaced the drums one PD.

Service for the PD150/170 can be handled through any Sony Broadcast service center. They are very serviceable.

If you guessed that I like the unit, you are right. I just ordered five PD170's. My audience will remain SD (standard definition 4:3) through 2012, so the choice of additional camcorders was a no brainer.

Operation 63x10H
Drum Run 53x10H
Tape Run 49x10H
Threading 156x10H

Is this bad?
Is it due for a service?
What should I be watching out for?

Any advice on this would be great.
