    DSC-W100 video problems!

hey, i have a sony DSC-W100 and when i record a video and move it onto my computer it plays but the lenght of the video is never dispalyed correctly. for instance a few days ago i recorded a 2minute video and when played on the computer it was displayed as 13seconds but still plays when it gets to 13seconds. so when i try and upload to youtube or a similar site it only plays the first 13seconds.

    anyone got any ideas??

    thanks

I'm guessing this is more of a video issue than a camera issue. So I'm moving this post to the video forum where someone is more likely to be able to give you an answer.

Yes, sounds like an issue occured when you captured the video. What are you using to capture the video? What are playing the video back with (Windows Media, Quicktime, etc)?

It could have something to do with the timecode of the video. Is the timecode continuous for that 2 min video. If the timecode got reset to 00:00:00:00 after 13 seconds, then perhaps youtube is only playing that portion of the video that has valid timecode assigned to it.

    Just a theory.

Great pictures are taken with the mind...the problem lies in getting the dang camera to take the same picture!

This is not that unusual. The simplest way to fix it is to re-encode the clip using something like Tmpeg, Quicktime, etc which will restamp it with the correct timing.

using the dc w100. and using media player to play the file but the same thing is happening in quicktime and other players.

What I meant is to take the video file that you have and use a SW encoder (Tmpeg, Qtime, Windows Movie Maker, etc) to encode (or remake) it again. This should correct the time stamps and the video will play for the correct amount of time.
