Nikon 'D' Lenses on a Nikon DSLR? 'D' vs. 'DX'?

Planning on buying a D200. I have Nikon 'D' lenses that I would like to use on the new D200. Would I loose performance or quality if used them? Would the DX lenses be better?

Re: Nikon 'D' Lenses on a Nikon DSLR? 'D' vs. 'DX'?

D just means the lens has a CPU with distance information transmittance for 3D color matrix metering and flash.

DX lenses are typically telecentric in design, and have an image circle that only covers the DX format. It would not be possible to use them on a full-frame film camera or digital SLR.

DX lenses however are typically designed to take advantage of the smaller format enabling smaller, more highly corrected lenses to be designed with focal lengths appropriate for the 'crop factor'.

It really depends on the specific D and DX lens you compare. Why not give us a list of what you have and what you're looking at?
