Question Tamron wide-medium vs. Nikon wide-medium

I know the kind of questions that I am about to ask often result in riots, but I want to ask anyway.

Does anybody have any first hand experience of the Tamron 24-135 vs. the Nikon 24-120 (VR)? Has anybody used either of them with a Nikon D70 (or D100 since compatitability seems to be similar)? Does anybody have any advice to provide with regards to selecting between the two?

    Checked the Reviews?

Have you checked the 35mm zoom lens reviews on this site? You might find just what you need by going through the reviews for both lenses. They both have good reviews, but the Tamron has been one of the top ten lenses on this site for months. That's probably partly because of the price, and partly because of the zoom range. But everyone seems to think it's got excellent optics as well.

I expect that you would be happier with the Nikon, though. The combination of AF-S and VR is hard to compete with. It does sell for more than the Tamron, and the Tamron does have more reviews and an overall higher rating on this site. Just in case you haven't seen them, here's a link to the 35mm zoom lens reviews:

    Hope that helps-

Nikon's 24-120mm VR is a very good Lens since you know Nikkors OPTICS are far much better than the sigma's and Tamron's.

    Tech. Specs
    AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED (5.0x)

    SWM for ultra-fast, ultra-quiet AF
VR operation offers the equivalent of using a shutter speed 3 stops faster (at 120mm)
    High-power 5x zoom lens
Two aspherical lenses and two ED glass elements

Lens construction: 15 elements in 13 groups
    Closest focusing: 0.5m/1.6 ft.
    Filter attachment size: 72mm
    Hood: HB-25
