Nikon D7000 In The House!

UPS dropped off a Nikon D7000 last week. I finally got it out of the box a couple of days ago. I've played with it for a couple of days now and I have a box opening / preview video up:

Thanks, guys! I shot stills and video with it over the weekend and hope to have a sample video up by the end of the day today. I'll start posting some sample photos, too

I just added a sample video to the preview page. It includes some nighttime ISO 800 footage some more continuous auto focus action and a time-lapse video made with the D7000's built-in intervalometer. Personally, I'm pretty pleased with how it came out. On the other hand, I'm not video expert and if you have suggestions for how I could have made it a better demo video, I'm interested.

I hope you guys are finding this useful. Now that I've got the basic video stuff all knocked out I'm going to get to work on using this camera - as a camera. Prepare yourself for lots of Nikon D7000 ski photos

Can't wait. I was impressed with everything but the continuous focus on the video. But then thats a tough one for dedicated video cameras.

So do you think it would be worth saving up for, or should I take advantage of the deals right now on a d90? I'm pretty impressed with it so far. Just curious.

That depends on what you want and need, Dan. The D90 is an excellent camera. In fact, so is the D5000. But the D7000 is better. What do you want to shoot? Do you already own Nikon lenses? If you don't, then buying a D90 and spending the difference on a good lens is probably a better idea.

I don't have a dslr right now. I have a couple lenses from a n70 but that's it. I'm looking for a good one I can grow with and not out of in a year or two. That's kinda why I was leaning more to the d90 or d7000 over the d5000. I do also take a bit of video out wakeboarding. Just to throw that in as well.
