    Question D70 lens help

I'm going to be getting a D70 soon and was wondering if my AF Nikkor 28-80mm 3.3-5.6 G lens I have for my N75 35mm SLR will work properly on the D70? Or do I need to save up more and get the D70 kit that comes with the Nikkor DX lens?

It'll work fine, but you might be wishing you had something a little wider....with the 1.5x crop and everything...I do have to say that I like the kit lens...for someone like me who is more of an enthusiast, and also on a budget, it's tough to beat.

I don't know how to put this, but...I'm kind of a big deal...People know me.

Ok, thanks for the info. I take a lot of pics at the races so having a longer lens is what I like. But after some thinking it would be nice to have the extra lens so I may just suck it up and have PB&J's for lunch for a while to get the D70 kit

On a related note, will the DX lens work on the N75 35mm film SLR I have?

The 18-70 will fit on the N75 but the images will be dark around the edges. DX lenses are not designed to cover the film format. And the 28-80 is not optimised for digital. If I were you I'd go for the D70 kit with the 18-70 and forget about the 28-80.

I think you save some money buying the D70 with lens as a kit, instead of buying the D70 now and the same lens later. I've heard good things about it although I haven't used it personally. 28 isn't wide at all on a DSLR, and it will take the 18mm end of the lens to give you that same perspective (actually a little wider). And the other thing is that 80mm isn't long for any kind of action shots. You won't see much difference between 70 and 80, anyway.
