    D60 vs. Digital Rebel

    Hello all,

I have been shooting with a 35mm SLR for years and with a Canon EOS for the past 6 years. Recently I have been looking into getting a digital SLR to use in addition to my 35mm system. I went to my local camera shop today and had a look at the cameras they had and found that for the price of a digital Rebel I could get a D60. The D60 felt a lot more solid to me and being larger and heavier, felt more similar to the Elan II with BP that I'm using now. I can't decide which body to go with. I imagine the Rebel has some more advanced image processing, but the D60 seems like a more solid camera with more features...any suggestions? Thanks.

Canon 10D would be a better choice if you are going second hand which you would be with the D60. Are you looking at the original Digital Rebel 300 or the new one the 350.

Rebels have certain features that the 10D and 20D have, turned off.

    Hi MT:
I agree with Peter, if you're going second hand, go with the 10D. There should be plenty of them around with the 20D out in force. Nothing wrong with the D60, but it is an older camera, noise is terrible at ISO 800+, and the AF is a dog (so is the 10D's but not as bad as the D60). The 10D is considerably cleaner at the higher ISO settings, and it has a metal body instead of plastic. I've got both these cameras, and my vote goes with the 10D for a second hand camera. Unless you're getting a heck of a deal, though, I'd seriously think about a new Rebel XT.
