:cryin: Pentax K10D or Olympus E-510???

    Hi!

I'm planning to buy a DSLR but I don't know which one I should buy!

I don't want to spend a lot of money, so, I'm choosing between the Pentax K10D with the DA 18-55 mm and DA 50-200 mm lens (780€), and Olympus E-510 with the ED 14-42 mm and 40-150 mm lens (590€)!!!

Neither camera would be a bad choice. However, I would go for the Pentax. Compared to the Olympus, it has a bigger sensor, less noise at higher ISO, and more dynamic range than the 4/3 Olympus. The current lens lineup is excellent and it has the largest compatibility with lenses going back to the dark eras of K-mount history.

FWIW, I was a Pentax user from way, way back (the original, then new, MX film cameras). They were rugged, the controls logical and well designed, the metering excellent. I went to Canon for digital (no Pentax digital at the time) and IS. But, if I had money to waste, I'd switch back to Pentax in a heartbeat. Just exposing my bias here!
