    New RawShooter essentials raw converter

There is no excuse not to test this new raw converter:

because it is free for some period of time.

Re: New RawShooter essentials raw converter

    Yes there is.

It only works with Windows XP, which cuts out everyone that runs Windows 2000 or before. Very restrictive idea if you want to sell it. There are still many people that still run Windows 2000 for the very reason not to run Windows XP.

So even if it is free, not worth downloading unless you have Windows XP.

Should be something posted about that Uwe.

Known issue and will be fixed probably soon. Still the majority will use XP anyhow (Win2K gets into its days :-))

I added a note to my preview.

Re: New RawShooter essentials raw converter

    Pete,

And don't call me Pete, it is Peter, I hate when people call me Pete.

Don't understand you statement to me, when you don't even know me. No I don't download Mac (don't have one), don't download Linus (haven't needed it as I am a Microsoft Partner).

The thing is, that this is being touted as competition for Capture One DSLR raw conversion and it being freely supplied in probably Beta Form to those interested. Great Idea.

But they are negleticing probably more than 50% of users, by only supplying the software in a limited form. Also their required specs are a bit limiting expecially for those that might be running laptops as well and also not compatible with certain equipment.

Unless someone dowloaded the fact sheets and looked at them, they waste time downloading the software, try and install it and get frustrated with not being able to look at what might be potentially good developing software.

Also the people that are developing the software are ex Capture One developers who are obviously (from what I have read on other forums) using confidential trademark secrets learned whilst working for Capture One, most likely, as the development of RAW images seems to be done in a similar fashion.

Just because you might use Mac or Linux, is no reason to jump on my bandwagon as being a Windows 2000 (happy user) user. I don't want to move up to XP because of all the problems they have with that software. 2000 suits my needs quite happily thank you.

I have looked at Linux in the past and it was not what I wanted to move over to, especially with all the bought software I have, not going to spend money on that all again.

    Get my point.

    Testimony to Win2K

    Hi Peter:
Stability and bullet proof hardiness is why our network server at work runs on Win2K while all 34 workstations run on XP pro. Not that we've had problems with XP, but it is a relatively untried commodity compared to Win2k.

Apologies PETER bit hard to tell from your sig. You miss my point, you should have read the rest of the site before downloading it. Not all software can be developed for all platforms.

    Cheers.
