    xga resolution question

what does 1024 x 768 really mean for video?
how does this video resolution compare to a still print?
is it comparable to a 3 megapixel photo for each still of video, or 2 or 4 or what?
i ask because i want to use a canon s80 with xga video (the only one on the market with this video capability, please let me know if there are others btw) for editing footage on a computer.
i have a 2mp canon with 320 x 240 and it's not of good quality whatsoever, small or enlarged.
    please help me understand. thanks.

1024 x 768, 320 x 240, etc is the width x height of the image in pixels. You can see the size judging by your computer destop's size. Today most people uses 1024x768 as their desktop size.

1024x768 is extremelly high resolution for video (DVD's has only 720x480 pixels). It also consumes space like there's no tomorrow, ask how many memory you need to record video (i think you need the biggest memory you can find). Also note that in 1024x768 the camera captures 15 frames per second, instead of 30, that's normally sufficient, but will not be as smooth as 30 frames.

Note: at 640x480 it captures 30 fps, and the resolution is high enought for video.

A 1024x768 image has 0.75 megapixels (just multiply both numbers to get the total pixels).
