Question Will the auto power-off in W1 stop recording video ?

    Hi,

I'm about to buy a Sony Cybershot W1. The main reason I'm going for Sony instead of Canon A85 is because there is no limitation for the length of video that can be recorded.

Today, I read that, there is an Auto Power-off feature, which will power-off the camera if I don't operate the camera for more than 3 minutes. This will not happen if we are playing back a recorded movie or slideshow. But they haven’t mentioned about recording a movie. So I'm wondering if I’m recording a movie for more than 3 minutes, will it power-off ? (Any W1 users experienced this ?)

    Thanks,
    Benny

I'm sure that any salesperson would love to help you test this. They'll pretty much do anything if it means selling you the camera. I went into a store to check out my camera before I bought it (online of course) and they were happy to provide me with lenses and batteries to help me check it out. They probably would have also busted out a CF card if I had asked...

FWIW, if video is important to you, think about getting a video camera rather than a still camera that provides low-quality video.
