    what are these??

these 2 shots were from my recent vacation to ocean city, maryland. i was trying to take pictures of lightning. when i uploaded them on my pc i noticed a lot of these dots that look like hot/dead pixels. are they and why are there soo many?? it was only in these 2 shots. they are hard to see in the post for whatever reason. when i view them on my pc i can count at least 15 of these dots in each picture. all blue, white, green, and red dots.

Yeah it sounds like hot pixels. Pretty much inevitable with long exposures. You can use the camera's noise reduction mode which will take a second blank frame and try to eliminate as many hot pixels as it can. Or you can fix it in post processing with a few clicks of the mouse..
