what to buy??

hello, i am new to this camera stuff but i want to buy a new camera all i have right now is a cheap $100 point and shoot camera. so i wanna upgrade any good suggestions? i dont really wanna spend more than $300 but willing to go for 4 i guess.
the stuff i like is biking, so a fast camera but i also like to go out off roading so a good long zoom and nature camera any ideas?
i was looking at the Canon Powershot SX10 IS. any good?

You may want one of the Olympus tough series, it could handle those rugged outdoorsy trips better than anything else in its price range. You lose the long zoom, but you gain durability, convenience, and its very practical. Otherwise, that Canon's a solid one, can't go wrong with it either.

I recently purchased the Canon SX10 IS, upgrading from the S3 IS, and I love it. I have found that if you want "super zoom" in a P&S, you will sacrifice small size, but then, I like the larger size. My wife wants something she can stuff in her pocket, so she is limited to 4X, or maybe 6X.

Someone is not quite up to date. The S2 IS was replaced by the S3 IS, which was superseded by the S5 IS, and now all have given way to the SX10 IS. There is also the SX1 IS, but that is a much more expensive camera.
