I put a camera card in the reader, and on the screen came symbols for file names and indications that the files were more than 1 gig each on a 256meg card.

First thought was Oh "*&!+!", my camera card is corrupted.

When I put the card back in the camera and attached it to the computer, I got the same symbols and more than 1 gig for the files as I did in the card reader.

I turned off the camera, detached it from the computer, turned it on again and the camera menu asked for year, month, day, hour etc. I thought: "Oh, no, it is going to reformat my card."

I filled out the info. on the menu and much to my surprise the card came back on the screen with all the pix in tact and uncorrupted with normal lengths.
