Thanks for posting those. I think it's all about your vision and technique. If you know your camera, you should be able to get good photos with any camera. I love compacts. They can't do it all. But they sure can do a lot.

So what do you think about that lens? Is it realistic for Canon to label it an "L" lens? I'm not judging it. I haven't used it. But since they could pretty much put anything on that camera and paste an L on it, I've wondered. You've been using that camera for a while, right? Is the L justified?

I have used this camera for a little less than a year, and initially was disappointed in it's performance. It was slow, and there were noticable EVF freezes between shots. The image quality is excellent at ISO 50 and 100, and ISO 200 is useable. I put it aside for awhile, and then read on DPreview about a firmware upgrade. I installed it, and it was a big improvement. EVF freezes are gone, and responsiveness seems a touch better. It's still not there in terms of sports or fleeting action, but it is usable for events like weddings. I posted the gallery to show what can be done with it. All in all, I am satisfied with the results, in terms of camera responsiveness and handling.

In terms of image quality, I believe the L lens classification is appropriate for this camera. It is sharp, sharp, sharp, and there is that luminous glow to the photos that is characteristic of my other L lenses. As chance might have it, I am attending another wedding today, and will be taking my 10D and 70-200 2.8L, so I will post another gallery soon.

The Pro 1 is an excellent camera in terms of image quality. I have no qualms using it for posed shots at ISO 50, and did a shoot last May of nude/glamour where I did about 200 pictures with it, with excellent results. The best thing about a camera like that is that people don't expect it to produce such good results. They see the pictures, and are like "Huh? That's incredible!"
