Question Trying to decide between three cameras...

currently i have two cameras, both compact point and shoot casio exilim cameras. i lost one back in november so i bought a new one, but the old one was recently found so im going to sell them and get a nicer camera. i think i have it narrowed down between three different cameras but i cant decide because im a 'noob' to cameras so im not exactly sure what i need/ want.

two of the following cameras are point and shoot with non removable lenses and the third is a dslr.
the dslr only has 6 megapixels while the other two have 9 and 10.

my question is this: what benefits would the dslr camera give me over the other two, and what bennefits would the other cameras give me over the dslr?

and are there any other cameras that would be in the same price range that you would recommend? i want something that will take really really nice looking pictures with excellent quality and great colors. i also want something that would have a really good macro setting, or at least something that could take really nice pictures up close.

    help?!

once again let me know which one you would reccommend, and if there are any others that you think would be better for the price let me know!!! :-D

THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE HELP!!!

I'm pretty sure Pentax has a newer dSLR with about 10mp if you were thinking of that. Depends on how much money you want to spend and how much you want to learn/know about photography.

I haven't a clue but remember that with a dslr for macro you have to get a lens or extension tubes.
Most do have a close up setting, I believe but not same as macro.

Dude, you read the "why go to DSLR?" thread in the "Digital SLR's" section.

    Why Go To DSLR?

I also wanted to get something like the "Fuji FinePix S9100 Digital Camera" (actually, that's exactly what I wanted) but I was told that "bridge" (cameras that take video and still images) cameras are usually not that good at doing both things. My sister has a Kodak SLR styled digital camera (anothe name for a bridge camera) like the Fuji and the Panasonic your looking at and the thing is really slow at taking pictures but video is fine for posting online and stuff.

    Also, you should read the following thread since it talks about the Panasonic in question;

Which one to buy Nikon D40X or Panasonic DMC-FZ50

Re: Trying to decide between three cameras...

    well, thanks for the help

but i actually decided against all of these cameras and decided to go with the Canon sd-900. i liked the fact that it was very small with 10mp, and one of my friends has another version (sd-600) which is very nice

thanks for the help though!! :-D
