Is there something wrong with this forum??

Yeah thats right !!! Ive had a thread there asking for some advice now for 3 days and only get some smart arse response from some dick, so I go out and look some more and come back with suggestions and asking what would be recommended but get no response what is the frigging point of having this forum if Im going to receive no help?

DO I NEED TO GO TO ANOTHER FORUM WHERE THEY WILL ANSWER MY QUESTIONS?

First, the answer you got was far from a "smart arse response from some dick." In fact, mn_shutterbug was polite and trying to be helpful while you are obviously not. He has much more respect on this board than you currently have.

Second, this is the holiday season. Many users won't be posting anything until late next week.

Third, whether you believe it or not, your question was no different than the hundreds of others we see here. You may not like it, but no one here can pick a camera for you, there are too many that will do what you want. No one is going to do your homework for you either. Go to

    www.dpreview.com

    and do your own homework.

I would suggest that you learn to be civil in your comments instead of sprinkling it was childish garbage. By the way, what I have written here is for your own benefit.

Good grief, you are hopeless. Do you really think that anyone will help you out now? Rant incoherently all you want, I'm out of here.

Smile NO, I Don't think so

The members on this forum are more than happy to help anyone that they can. None of us have the time or interest in keeping up with every single make and model of camera or equipment that is out there. I for one am not interested in compact cameras so I don't keep up with the different models. Others here that are interested in them may be gone for the holidays or are just busy right now.

I have been on this forum for years and have had some of my questions answered in a few minutes and others it took a few days depending on the question, time that it was ask, and if they felt they could give a helpful answer. I personally read many times more posts than I reply too due to not having a helpful answer to that particular question.

The members are here to help one another and are not paid individuals that set at their computers 24/7 to research answers for others. If you post a question and are a little patient the right person will read your post and have the knowledge and desire needed to help out. If you were paying for answers to your questions and not getting a response you would have something to get upset about but you are asking for FREE HELP. Most of us are glad to give it if it is ask for and not demanded, Jeff

I guess I should apologize and run to spend the rest of the day researching cameras for you. My apologies for spending time with my family and going on a mini photo excursion instead of doing that for you!

Being French Canadian, I am also a member of photo forum in France. I have noticed that the comments posted on the American forum are by far more 'rude' than the European site. I have no time for people with bad attitude like (Tegstar83) . Happy new year to all.

Wow, so does this mean that if someone gave a a model number to purchase and you did but found out that it wasn't what you wanted that person should pay you back for it also.
I agree with GP, I have been on this site and posted a question that wasn't answered in a few days but within a week it had multiple answers. If you are looking for an answer as soon as you type it then I don't think this site is for you. Try to head down to your local big box store and see if you get attention or the answers that you need.

My gosh, I leave for a weekend photo excursion, and I get attacked. I was just attempting to offer sound advice. I just hope the next forum you join will put up with your immaturity. If you are always looking for personal assistance, you may get disappointed more than once, no matter where you go.

Also, this forum has been extremely helpful to me and countless others. I have learned much, much more, from reading answers to other member's questions, than I have from asking my own.

Knock this forum, and you won't be very welcome here.

Re: Is there something wrong with this forum??

the reason you didn't get an answer right away is because no one can tell you what camera may be the best for you. As someone stated in your original post, this has been answered many times. And trust me, you're not the ONLY person who shoots what you do, this is not a new topic. In the end, most of the point and shoots nowadays do the exact same thing, so your best bet is to go to the store and try them out. Besides, now we see if we recommended you a camera that you ended up not liking, you'd just attack us for it anyways. The bottom line is that there have been HUNDREDS of "what camera should I get" posts, and if they are no more specific than yours, they're very hard to answer. All the posters here have other lives as well, so to think that we hang on your every typed word is ridiculous. I personally hadn't even seen your other thread before you decided to go on this rant. But now, because of it, as someone else stated, you're very unlikely to get any help.

Re: Is there something wrong with this forum??

I often browse this particular (sub?)forum, "Digital Cameras - General", looking for questions I can answer, although, when I go home for Christmas, I do not have high-speed access to the 'net, so I don't surf much. However, not being anything like an expert, I generally avoid "Which Camera...?" threads that have several responses already, so, it does not really help much to keep replying to one's own thread. And when I do read them, I only respond if it sounds like someone who has similar requirements to me, since that's all I really know about...

Did you read Sebastian's post entitled "Sticky: Which camera is right for me? Please read before posting" ?

Sebastian is a Most Awesome Photographer and a Most Awesome Person as well. His advice is great and his photos are inspiring. Stick around this forum, take a look at his photos, and take his advice, and you'll learn a lot.

Not trying to beat the proverbial dead horse here, but it is more than almost anyone can do to keep up with every current digital camera made at all times. And like John said, it's all about compromises and you were asking for more than you could probably find - at any price. If pocket sized is most important, then you'll have to give up some things; if another characteristic is most important then you'll have to give up something else.

I don't get into this forum often myself, but I'll be that there's hardly a day that goes by that a similar question isn't asked and answered as best we can.
