    Super Zoom Digi

This may sound odd coming from a 1D/100-400IS shooter, but I want a LIGHTER super zoom(10x or more) with GOOD image quality. I'd prefer good quality at ISO400(or more) with "image stabilizing" such as panasonic has.

The reason for my need is simple, changing lenses for wide views is time consuming and weight kills me when I don't need 8FPS and all the finer points of my ID setup.

    Any suggestion are welcomed .

    Re: Super Zoom Digi

    Hey Paul,

I just took a look at the B&H web site, and I found these 5 "Advanced" digi cams that have 10x optical zoom or more. I believe they all have image stabilization of some kind also. I have never used any of them so I don't have anything else to offer you as far as info goes, but it's a starting point for you. Good luck and keep us posted on your search for a new camera.

    Re: Super Zoom Digi

Sorry to steal this thread, but i'm also looking for a cheaper large zoom camera.

I've had a look around, and i like the Fuji S5500 and the Minolta Dimage Z2.

If anyone has any experience of them, please let me know

    Thanks

    Jon.

    EDIT

Sorry, ignore this. I got confused with which post was newer

    Iso 400

    Paul-
Don't expect much from compacts above ISO 200. They're all pretty noisy at ISO 400. Some cameras are pretty much unusable above ISO 200. However, if you get a camera with a resolution of 7 or 8-megapixels, the noise might be effectively hidden because of the large number of pixels. Just be aware that high ISO performance may be the weakest feature of compact cameras.

OH would the people riot if I hung a nikon on my left and a canon on my right

    Sample Photos

Check out the studio sample photos in the gallery to get an idea of what the quality might be. We don't have enough cameras in there yet. But the samples will help, nonetheless.
