    Storing My digital pictures

I need a way to store my pictures. I don't want to use a hard drive and I don't want to store them on the net. I could put them on CD but that is a pain and I don't have a dvd burner on my computer. A flash drive may be an option. I thought there was some type of storage box which you plug in with a usb and just download the pictures to it. Does anybody have any thoughts? I have about 3000-4000 pictures mostly 6MP.

Sounds like you want a USB hard drive like this. - TF

Why don't you want to use a harddrive? I believe it gives you the best cost per mb. I use an external harddrive and dual layer DVD-R for backup. Which reminds me, I need to back up my 2008 photos.

    Thanks!

That's exactly what I'm using, except I have the 500gb version and I use it as a backup instead of primary storage. If you are looking for primary storage, the WD my book might be a better option since it's faster than the my passports.

However, they're all hard drives. Why don't you want to use hard drives?

I agree with Manacsa, a HD is your most cost effective solution. A nice small drive like the WD Passport works really well for travel and a USB external for home works great. You pretty much eliminated the most common storage methods in your post. I don't know of any "box" you download photos to except some type of external hard drive.
