    Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P43 problems..

    hi folks

just bought the Sony Cyber-Shot P43 camera and haven't got it to communicate with my PC after a week of various downloads, installs / re-installs, etc, etc.

i'm using WinXP O/S with AMD processor and have used other manufacturers digital cameras on my PC without any problems whatsoever. in fact, i've used other Sony digital products without hassle..

the camera's close to being returned for an alternative make .. anyone any similar experience or know how to resolve the issue?

    thanks!

You might consider a card reader. Most of the all-in-one types take Memory Stick (assuming that's your card type, but they'll take everything else too) and they are pretty cheap, way faster, and they don't waste your camera battery...

I don't know how to put this, but...I'm kind of a big deal...People know me.

the card reader is an option..

sony sell lots of cameras.. lots of folks have a similar PC setup to yours.. so it should work..

u might have a faulty camera.. try your camera on another PC if it still dosnt work.. assume u have a faulty one.. send it back.. another similar one should work okay..

if it dosnt its something wrong with your PC.. in no way do sony make cameras that cant talk to computers.. he he

If you have a memory card in the camera, charged batteries, and you plug the cable from the camera into the USB port and power the camera on, it should be recognized by the PC. If it is not, there are two possibilities that come to mind. One is your camera itself is faulty as already stated. Two would be that you have a faulty USB port. If the camera came with a discx that has drivers on it I am sure by now you installed the software. If not then do that anyway. But really that is a pretty straight forward sort of process. I will be surprised if the camera is working as it is supposed to.
