Sigma EF 500 ST NA Flash for Nikon CoolPix

I purchased a Sigma EF500 ST iTTL NA Flash for my Nikon CoolPix 8800. All the zoom and trigger functions worked but not the TTL control. All the pictures were over-exposed. Any suggestion?
