Samsung Pro 815. 8.0 mp digital?

Anyone have any suggestions about this camera Samsung Pro 815. 8.0 mp digital? I recently bought a Canon rebel xt camera... but I'm not too thrilled with it.. I like the option of being able to use the LCD screen to capture pictures. (not positive if this camera is able to do that, havent been able to find it)... I'm fairly new to photography, but want a good camera to enhance my skills with. ANyone?

    Cindy-
Sorry no one answered your post sooner. We have detailed pro reviews for both the Samsung Pro 815 and the Canon Rebel XT here. You'll find them both in our digital camera pro reviews section. However, they're really very different cameras and probably in ways you don't realize. Your camera is a digital SLR. SLR stands for "single lens reflex" and indicates that your camera has changeable lenses and an optical viewfinder that allows you to see right through the lens. However, you can't use the LCD compose photos with your Rebel XT because there's a mirror in the way of the sensor when you're looking through the viewfinder.

An important difference between the Canon Digital Rebel XT and the Samsung Pro 815 is the sensor size. They both have more or less the same resolution. However, your Canon has a much larger sensor with physically larger pixels. Larger pixels mean significantly better image quality. If you look at the two pro reviews here and check the studio sample i images you'll be able to clearly see the quality difference.

Another important difference between the two cameras is speed. While the Samsung Pro 815 is a very capable camera, it does not have the speed and accuracy of your Canon or any other digital SLR. Your Canon has better auto focus, a faster capture rate, and can capture more photos before it has to stop shooting.

The bottom line is the Rebel XT is a much better camera than the Samsung Pro 815 in a bunch of ways. However, the Canon still may not be the right camera for you. It's possible that you just need to learn to compose and shoot with the SLR's optical viewfinder - that's how the pros shoot. But it's also possible that you'll shoot better and be happier being a ble to shoot with an LCD. Just be aware that if you decide to switch to the Samsung Pro 815 you will be making some major compromises.

Another camera you may want to take a look at is the Olympus E-330. It's the only digital SLR currently available that allows you to use the LCD to compose and shoot. It will have much better image quality and performance than the Samsung and you'll still be able to use the LCD to shoot. I haven't actually used the E-330 so I can't speak from experience. But I don't think the image quality will be quite as good as your Canon has.

Hope that helps - and I hope you see this post.
