samsung L55W review? how to get batteries?

Hi, just wondering if anyone knows if samsung cameras are decent, as it's very difficult to find reviews for this model. also, where on earth can I buy the batteries? I've done so many searches for '3.7V Li-ion battery (SLB-1237) 1280mAh'. they don't even seem to sell them on the samsung website! is there a universal lithium battery which will apply which won't go and destroy my camera? the battery issue is the only thing stopping me buying it at the moment. Thanks.

Re: samsung L55W review? how to get batteries?

Any dealer that sells the camera should sell replacement batteries. You might also check B&H Photo. They're a huge New York City dealer and they carry a huge number of replacement batteries. I expect that the Samsung battery isn't completey limited to Samsung products. That's no their style.

As for reviews, we are actually updating the Samsung digital cameras listed here. We should have all the new cameras listed today. I'll see if I can stir up some reviews for the L55W and other new cameras.

    Thanks!

    Hi Katgem

I too am thinking of getting a Samsung L55W but would like to see some independent reveiws before doing so. As regards your query re Batteries the SLB 1237 is available in the U.K from Best Cameras, St. Helens. Price £30 [ bit expensive !!!!] The telephone number to check on availability is 01744 453111 or visit the website www.bestcameras.co.uk Peter, the Manager at the store told me that you have to get this model battery for the L55W camera.

I'll See What I Can Do

I'll see if I can get a camera for a pro review. I haven't had anything from Samsung for a little while. And that is an interesting camera.

    Re: spare batteries

Katgem, I was just searching for these batteries and this forum came up in Google.

I did find batteries at http://www.warehouseexpress.com/inde...ks/hahnel.html via Google.

They have a Hahnel compatible (not original Samsung) one for £19.99 + £3.99 next day delivery.

I've never bought from this company (or used Hahnel batteries for that matter) so I can't comment on them but it might be worth you looking into this.

Photo-John, I too would be very interested in a pro review of this camera.
