    Recommendations on underwater P&S

I'd like to buy a point and shoot in addition to my SLR to take on trips. Because it will be my secondary camera only used when I'm in conditions where I can't use my SLR, I don't want too spend a lot of money but don't want to get something cheap that will break either. $500 is the max but my preference is something in the $200-300. I would like it to be waterproof so I can take in the water as well as use it without problems in wet/humid conditions but also good to use as a regular P&S.

Any recommendations on what kind of camera? I was looking at Olympus or Panasonic ones but there's many out there.

    Here's one of them: http://www.henrys.com/webapp/wcs/sto...&itemID=255068

I wrote it last summer, but here's a guide to waterproof point-and-shoot cameras:

And here's a short article I wrote this spring about some more recent waterproof cameras:

Waterproof Digital Cameras At PMA 2009

There's a lot of negative feedback on these cameras. I've had very good luck with the Olympus Stylus SW waterproof cameras and can't help wondering if we're only hearing from the people who have cameras that fail. Sometimes that happens on the Internet. There could be thousands of people out there enjoying their waterproof cameras and a few hundred bitter people who lost their vacation photos. Can't blame them. But we may not be getting a clear picture. Like I said, I haven't had one of the Olympus cameras fail on me yet and I've abused them pretty throughly.

I'm having a difficult time deciding between the Canon D10 and Panasonic TS1. I'm leaning towards the Panasonic just because of the its appearance and it's not bulky. I'll be using this camera mostly out of the water, typically at parties and indoor events instead of outdoor adventure. The main reason for getting it is if it does get wet (jungle, dropped in water, etc) I won't have many issues.

From everything I've read, picture quality is pretty equal between the two but the Canon D10 does seem to get better ratings and reviews from users/testers.

Would love to hear your opinions....I don't have much time left before I make my pictures.

    Thanks

my olympus 850sw got water in it and stopped working. Olympus, however, replaced it no questions asked. And I got the images off it, so I'm fine with that.
