up until about a month ago, I had a DSC-W5 that I really enjoyed and took a lot of great pictures with. i liked having some manual controls at my disposal, and the various shooting modes were useful. now I'm looking for a replacement (it was stolen) and am looking to spend about 300, give or take 50-75. i like the look of the dsc-w100, particularly because it's 8 MP and i won't have anything new to get used to, but many people have told me that the canons provide superior image quality. are there any canon models around the same price range that would be smaller, have more features, or provide better image quality overall?
