    From my camera using the USB cable, but I do have a card reader in the computer which I could try if you think that's a better bet

    I think card readers are always the best way to do it. They offer a simpler workflow and you can just leave them plugged into your computer. Or, if you have a built-in card reader, you don't even have to plug them in. The reason I asked about a card reader is software. Are you trying to view or transfer the images with the software that came with your camera or are you using your operating system? If you're using the camera software, that could be part of the problem. Camera companies often aren't that great at making software. I almost never use the supplied software. Instead, I just use a card reader and Windows Explorer.

    If your card really is very corrupt, then even your computer might have a problem handling the files. If that's the case, I encourage you to take SmartWombat up on his offer to help. He's a site moderator, an experienced photographer and a Windows professional. If anyone can help you, he can
