Problems with Canon A410

Hello all. My uncle has recently purchased the Canon Powershot A410 digital camera. The camera works great no complaints, but there seems to be a problem with the power supply. The thing is, I can use the camera for as long as I want, turn it off and leave it be for 1 or 2 hours and it fails to turn on. Now, I can turn it on by switching the batteries in place, but this is becoming an annoying habit. Now, I did buy new batteries and contact the dealer and he simply changed the batteries and whatnot. There seems to be no progress with the camera; I am starting to get annoyed. Any idea on the cause of this? Possible defect pehaps? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It sounds like there's a bad connection that's draining the batteries when it's turned off. Have you explained the problem to the dealer and asked him to replace the camera? Have you called Canon's tech support? Their phone tech support is supposed to be pretty good.
