Passing down old slr to daughter

upgrading to a digital slr.

I want to keep one lens and if I can find a digital I can use it with I will.

How will I know it's compatable? I have no camera stores near.

I dont remember where I purchased it but it was on vacation in Fla about 12/13 years ago I bought it because it was a k mount and would work with the vivitar 335 I had.

Any thoughts on this?

The K mount is Pentax's mount I believe?? What is the specific lens in question?

It is my fave lens and I'd rather keep it if I can find a digital it will work with.

it's been a constant companion with my other lens, I use it more than all the others. it's traveled well from hawaii to the smokey mountains. Takes wonderful pics.

Ok a little research and I found that the Pentax K mount has been around since 1975. So if your K mount lens was made sometime in the last 30 years it will fit on a Pentax DSLR. Keep in mind though the crop factor you get with DSLR's..

Check E-bay you can buy adaptors that will fit the K-mount lens to almost anything. I sold my Olympus 500 to a friend and he bought and adaptor because he had several really good Pentax zooms. They work well on the 500. He was pleased and he is very picky. Just be careful they sell a couple of different type adaptors, get the good one don't go cheap. The one he bought was $25.00 plus shipping

The K mounts will fit ALL modern Pentax DSLR cameras. There will be some auto functions that will not work, and will have to be done manually, but because of the excellence of some of the old glass, it is well worth it. Post this question over on the Pentax forum with the what the lens is as we have a lot of people who monitor over there that have a lot of experience with the older lenses. But we'll have to know what the lens is.
