Camera was purchased as gift in Dubai for me in June 2007. It has a 3 year guarantee. Camera was working brilliantly until a few weeks ago. Suddenly it wouldn't turn on. Thinking it may have been the battery I purchased a new Lumix battery but alas still no joy.
Camera has never been dropped and is kept in a very secure camera case.
Emailed Panasonic Customer Care in U.K. Don't even go there! Talk about lack of customer care and downright stupidity! Have given up on them...They are claiming that even though I have a full 3 year guarantee with the camera I have to send it back to Dubai?????? I must have receipt of purchase....(I did explain it was bought as a present so no receipt was given to me!) I have the guarantee booklet which is dated with the date of purchase.
I also brought it to 2 camera shops here in Dublin who wanted to send it back to Panasonic but I would be charged???? They also said apart from it not working, bodywise it was in mint condition!
Would be greatful for any help here as I seem to be banging my head against a wall. My son now works in Qatar so I can't send the camera back to him! Am nervous anyway sending it back via post.
Please can anyone help or does anyone know of known issues with this camera?
Do I have any consumer rights here?
