optimus 5.0 digital camera problems (again)

Hi i need some help on my optimus 5.0 camera again, since my last post i took my first optimus digital camera back to Radio Shack i had hope to getting it repaired. the salespersonal who tooked back my camera sent it to the wrong place and he ended up giving me a replacement the same make and model although i was thrilled to get a new camera, i took it on my vacation last year and it work wonderfully since then i hadnt been using it much well i didnt want to break this one as well. i had a couple pictures that i wanted download the other night.i had plug in the USB cord and attched the camera to the flathead, turn on the computer and the camera, and was ready to rock and roll. as i had done the previous times before useually i get "new hardware found" popped up. but this time howeveri got something different as in the dialog box it saids" USB device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port, i have no clue as to what that means im not really a tech person, i tried every flathead port and ended up eith the same error, so i got my niece's kodak camera, and you know the camera work in my computer, the odd thing is everything that i got is a usb flathead and they all worked great! i dont know if the USB flathead is fried or what to be honest this is to weird for me any advice or help is greatly appreciate

    Maybe the batteries need changing?

There is a power limit on the USB connectors, and the computer will shut them down if you try to take too much current.
If the camera was trying to power the camera off the USB because the batteries were low, that might explain it.

    Dear Paul,
hi thanks for all your help on my optimus camera, also, i did what you had suggested i went out and brought some fresh batteries, to be honest with you i was hoping that was the problem, i loaded in the batteries and tooked some test shots and had the usb flathead hook in the front usb port, plug in the camera to the connecting end of the USB cord, turn on the computer and the camera,to download the pictures from the camera, but i got the same error as i mention before. and i have to say that having 2 camera's that are the same make and model would be so darn troublesome, and weird. well i better go thanks again

    The problem is weird indeed.
If you're still getting the power problem form the USB port then the only other thing to try is to unplug everything else and see if you can get enough power to download.
Last resort would be a powered USB hub, so you don't rely on the computer's power. But I'd be wary of spending more money on this.

I think having two optimus cameras with problems probably means your idea of a new camera (and not optimus) is a good one.
